Stabilizing Wireless in Mission Critical Zones

Client Snapshot

Client: Global Temperature-Controlled Logistics Provider
Industry: Logistics
Size: 20,000+ employees
Services Provided: Network and Infrastructure Deployment, Wireless Optimization, Project Management

CLIENT OVERVIEW

This facility serves as a key distribution hub within the client’s national logistics network, responsible for the movement of high-volume, temperature sensitive inventory. As part of an ongoing modernization initiative, Temple IT led a comprehensive technology refresh at the site. This included wireless upgrades, deployment of handheld devices, and infrastructure improvements to support warehouse operations.

THE CHALLENGE

During implementation, Temple IT encountered a critical wireless coverage issue in the forklift tunnel zone. This area is vital to real time data capture and warehouse task execution. The root cause was traced to the wireless design performed by a third-party vendor. Access points had been installed on the ceiling in a way that did not account for structural interference from material handling equipment and nearby infrastructure. The result was severe signal degradation in high traffic zones.
This misalignment posed a serious risk to operational continuity, especially for connected forklift systems that rely on consistent wireless communication.

SERVICES DELIVERED

Temple IT acted quickly to contain the issue while preserving the project timeline and protecting active workflows:

  • Conducted real time diagnostics to identify weak connectivity zones and isolate interference factors.
  • Communicated findings across IT, operations, and vendor teams with ongoing transparency and collaboration.
  • Delivered targeted recommendations to reevaluate access point mounting positions and redesign wireless layouts in problematic areas.
  • Documented and escalated the design flaw to client engineering teams as a systemic risk for future deployments.
  • Implemented temporary wireless reconfiguration to stabilize coverage and prevent disruption to current operations.

RESULTS

Despite the suboptimal wireless design inherited from another vendor, Temple IT ensured the project stayed on track. Operational impact was minimal, and the tunnel zone remained functional throughout the refresh. Most importantly, the flawed ceiling-mounted access point configuration was identified, documented, and submitted for correction in future planning.

Temple IT’s technical agility, field leadership, and rapid troubleshooting turned a vendor oversight into a contained issue with no major disruption.

This engagement reinforced Temple IT’s role as a strategic partner capable of executing deployments while identifying and mitigating design risks in real time.
